​This annual event was held on the afternoon of Saturday 21st January on a cold and fairly frozen surface in Newbury, with the school well represented in many age groups.

There was a very good silver medal for the Year 7 team, which consisted of Chris Parker, Will Thompson, Josh Griggs and Ben Jones. There was also an excellent silver medal for the Year 10 and 11 team; Eddie Steveni was second overall, with Max Cooper third, and – combined with Ethan Baines-Gillespie and Joe Jeffrey’s results – they achieved a very good team position, just behind Eton College.

In the other races, the Year 8 and 9team ran well in a very competitive field but finished out of the top three, Jonah Kershaw, Phil Hayes, Tom Bryce and Toby Tegg  being our top finishers in that age group. Well done, also, to Year 13 Alanna Rayfield, who was placed 13th in the U19 girls’ race.

As a result of these races, a number of our Blue Coat athletes have been selected to represent Berkshire at the South East Inter Counties event in Kent on Saturday, 4th February.
