Forsooth – it’s the Year 8 Shakespeare Festival!

Blue Coat’s Year 8 Shakespeare Festival, which took place after school on Wednesday 8 March, saw spirited Shakespeare performances from all of our Year 8 pupils, who performed cut-down versions of four of Shakespeare’s plays.  Beating Malthus’s ‘As You Like It’ to the top spot was Aldworth, with their version of ‘Othello’, directed by Mr Morton.  The judges considered this a dramatically-striking interpretation of the play, complete with impressive fight scenes, a touching solo song from Jude Lancaster as Desdemona, and Iago’s inner voice playing chess with himself.  Two Best Actor prizes were awarded, and these went to Nicholas Vye, of Malthus, for Best Actor in a Leading Role, and Johannes Dreischmeier, of Rich, for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
