Rich Starr is a teacher of Spanish and French at Blue Coat. He graduated from the University of Bradford with a Joint Honours, and subsequently spent two years in Peru, with the British Council, teaching English as a foreign language.
Rich is a Flight Lieutenant in the RAF section of Blue Coat’s CCF. He enjoys providing the cadets with the opportunity to improve their leadership and communication skills, and takes the cadets to RAF Benson twice a term for a flight in a two-man ‘Grob Tutor’ light aircraft.
Away from the classroom, Rich is a keen runner, and is a regular participant at Reading’s Saturday morning ‘parkrun’ at Thames Valley Park. Rich was delighted with his first ever Reading Half Marathon in March 2017, completing it in 1 hour and 33 minutes. He is looking forward to participating in the next one!
He also enjoys cycling, rugby, tennis and football, and manages Blue Coat’s U13B football team in the Spring Term. Rich is also in a ukulele band called The Small Strings.
